There are more reasons wherefore vaporizers are so popular these days, whether it comes to oil or dry herb vaporizers. For instance, there is portability, as such devices are relatively small and can easily fit into a pocket. Then, it is the ease of use – you can find a dry herb vaporizer activated by a button, as well as a different model activated by inhalation.

What Is a Vaporizer?

A vaporizer is used to heat herbs or various substances until active components are released into vapors. The vapor can then be inhaled, so it replicates the actual smoking experience. The main benefit of actual smoking is the fact that plants are not combusted. Ideally, the process is tar free, so all the cancerous substances in tobacco are eliminated.

The process itself does not involve burning the plant. As a result, there is no fire or ash involved as you use the device, be it a weed vaporizer or a cannabis vaporizer. Instead, the result involves herbs that have lost their aromas and flavors. Plus, colors are also changed. From this point of view, cleaning weed vaporizers is a matter of emptying the chamber only.

How do Dry Herb Vaporizers Work?

Herb or cannabis vaporizers rely on conduction or convection to turn plants into vapor. Conduction products rely on heating elements to heat the herbs – it is all about direct contact. On the other hand, convection flower vaporizers circulate hot air around the herb, heating it in a gradual way until active substances are transferred.

  • Chamber – this is where the herb goes in a flower vaporizer. Older vaporizers used to rely on stainless steel. More new products use ceramic chambers, as they retain heat better. Quartz is also quite common.
  • Battery – you will need a battery to run the herb vaporizer. Most vaporizers feature lithium-ion batteries. They can be recharged with no issues at all. Also, some of them can be removable, yet it depends on the model you have.
  • Mouthpiece – this is the part that makes the connection between the chamber and your lungs. Different types of vaporizers have different kinds of mouthpieces. Some of them are cylindrical, while others are flat.

Choosing a Vaporizer – What To Look at?

Buying a vaporizer involves paying attention to a few small details, whether this is your first purchase or you are already used to it.

  • Typedesktop vaporizers are large and not portable but efficient. Portable Vaporizer and Pens are portable, discreet, and easy to use. So-called portable vaporizers are a bit thicker than pens and provide more efficiency.
  • Materials – prolific brands like Volcano, Atmos, Arizer, or KandyPens, will always state the materials used. Try to find aerospace aluminum, ceramic, or medical grade materials. Cheap brands will not mention any of these terms.
  • Transfer – consider how the vapors are transferred. Drawing directly from the vaporizer is your best option, followed by tubes, whips, and balloons. The transfer method affects the taste and flavor.
